songs: These Eyes Are Blue
My brother, J and I were all staying at a hotel in Los Angeles. It was one of our first times smoking weed, and we decided to go find a vending machine for snacks. We ended up getting lost in the maze of hallways for what felt like a lifetime before eventually coming across a vending machine, and then Tony, being awestruck by the vibrant packaging, wasted most of our money on a box of Tide laundry detergent. With soap in hand, we found our way back to the room where I proceeded to write this song as a joke.
Tell me how you want to be
Remembered and I’ll try and see
It through for you
I’ll tell the world that you
Fell too deep in love with me
Got lost inside our symmetry
I’ll stretch the truth
But you know what lies can do
I’ll write a fairy tale tune
If you really want me to
[c]
But I’ll know the truth
I can bend it just a bit if you want me to
But there’s something built in lies
That causes confidence to die
And try hard as I might
These eyes are blue.
You’ve really made a mess my dear
I fear the past will reappear
It’s over now
Or is it overhead, it’s how
You wipe your name until it’s clear
And cry those tears so insincere
That raises doubts
Well you know they’ll find you out
I’ll write a biased review
If you really want me to
[c]
I’ve got a lot of things to say
I’ll probably say them anyway
I’ll tell it all…
In fact, as I recall
You broke my trust and went astray
You bathed in lust while I decayed
You watched me fall
But I won’t tell ‘em, doll.
I tell it from your point of view
If you really want me to
[c]
