songs: Self Doubt
This song was written and recorded for Nine Sleepless Nights. Into the last chorus, my brother Tony can be heard playing trumpet. Although I knew how to play, I couldn't hit those notes and he stepped in to get them for me.

I'm knocked down
I'm stepped on
Or maybe I feel strong?
...I don't want to waste my time with doubting.
Someday,
I'm a rockstar
Got money
From my guitar?
...I don't want to waste my time with doubting.
I'm a simple boy
With a simple dream
In a complex world
Full of complex common themes
I don't want to waste my time with doubting... (x3)
Tell me another story about love
And about feeling lonely
So I won't feel so lonely
So I will feel you know me
And I'll write it down
I'll hide it deep within a song
So other kids can sing along
Only then will I belong
'Cause
I'm a simple boy
With a simple dream
In a complex world
Full of complex common themes
I don't want to waste my time with doubting... (x3)
Not a day's gone by
That I fail to think about
The things that I let set sail
Another cast tale
Of a doubtful hawk
Watching mice from atop the stalk
Do you see their rounded ears?
Do you hear the things they hear?
...I think not...
Baby, mice and men,
They talk a lot.
I don't want to waste my time with doubting... (x3)
