songs: Encore
I had finished my last tour, but still, I was living in the van. It had become home. So, I wrote this song from there, parked outside of my parent's home in 2008.
Night sets
I feel my mood shift
I know it's all just
In my head, but
My mind's a tempest
My hearts an old ship
Out on the ocean
Think I lost it
I feel I'm breaking
I see the same things
They say I'm crazy
Hope someone saves me... Save me
[c]
You saved yourself for the encore
But there’s no encore
Because there was no show
You never let it go
How could they want more?
You say you’re waiting for the encore
But there’s no encore
Unless you go for broke
You’ve got to bear your soul
If you’re on board
You sing of love
And of hope
But you don’t
No you don’t give it up
So you don’t get enough
Do you?
Homeless
My soul's been gone, it
Don't care that bodies
Die where songs live
I write myself letters
And they say surrender
But I say I'll never
I been there, got hurt
This is my own fate
Turned out the wrong way
But someday we all wake
At the beginning
[c]
You saved yourself for the encore
But there’s no encore
Because you’re all alone
And no one knows your songs
It’s what you asked for
You say you’re waiting for the encore
But there’s no encore
Just an empty room
And your own delusions of grandeur
So you’ll sing of love
You’ll sing of love
You’ll sing of love and of hope
‘Cause you don’t
No you don’t give it up
So you don’t get enough
Do you?
